Tribe: neighbourhood communities
The Tribe is a stage in the development where I am researching and surveying neighbourhoods as a potential tribe/user group. This tribe would be able to represent a UK community in which the context of sustainability from South Africa by means of more efficiently using available resources could be applied to.

Looking back to my thesis chapter 1.2, I found that the tribes that were influenced me were the small communities of neighbours who were able to take liberal approaches to sustaining their society by cooperating to grow food in “dig for Victory”.

Pierre Levy’s theory of collective intelligence reflects that by working as a group and sharing knowledge, the overall intelligence of the group grows. I theories that by applying this theory towards a small community and sharing knowledge between residents in the form of methods of sustainability, these neighbours can can adapt to overcome the issues od sustainability.

As expressed in my thesis chapter 1.3, I theories that Richard sennets theory of cooperation can be applied to neighbourhood communities, allowing humans as “pack animals” to come together, overcoming stereotypes and crate a diverse community with experience that can contribute to the communities overall means of overcoming issues in sustainability.
Survey method research
Multi choice surveys are an ideal method of providing the targeted group a choice that relates to the question and allows the people to narrow down their response. I believe this would be ideal method for identifying the needs of the community as topics often relate to sustainability are wide ranging and may not be relevant.
Looking over my research I feel that use of collective intelligence and cooperation needs to play a key role in the experience towards a sustainability design. However it is apparent that what the tribe defines as sustainability needs to be explored to identify how to provide them the means of reaching their goal of sustainability.
Application of research
I plan to apply the multi choice survey method towards a planning a survey layout. While multi choice is effective in providing the means of focusing the questions, I feel that the questions require a open box where the initial responses can be explained with personal responses.

In order to understand the community and their goal of sustainability, I am planning a layout for the survey that defines sustainability and gives context to what sustainability means for the residents of the neighbourhood.

I plan to keep the survey to the point of identifying f there is a goal of sustainability within the community and defining what sustainability they are seeking. The layout of the survey will make use of a multi choice option that will have additional information relating to that choice. An additional box will be made identified as other for additional personal responses that the users will have towards the questions.

The first question is minimalist as it establishes first whether the community has a goal of sustainability.

These types of sustainability are influenced by the way sustainability is defined in the UK by the NPPF as seen in my thesis chapter 1.1.
Economical sustainability – The efficiently use of resources to lessen lifestyle costs such as energy bill
Social Sustainability – More effectively using what available to preserve and enhance social bonds, online communication, pet interaction and Online media such as YouTube and streamed news
Environmental sustainability – The enhancement of healthy environment and food source through an improved quality of plant and food growth.
Reflection of layout
The use of a goal and defining methods of reaching that goal provides an effective means of understanding the mind set of sustainability.
Application of layout
Applying this layout towards a small neighbourhood community can give the perspective of the residents and their mind set, but also acts as a tribe in which variants of multi choice layout with room for explanation can be used for further contextual surveys.

Purpose of contextual survey
I am conducting an interview in order to gain perspective and feedback on the sustainable design prototype I am developing for small communities towards reaching sustainability through more efficient resource use in order to sustain themselves in the form of economical, social and environmental sustainability.
This location is the Lions Mill estate, a community that has grown with the development of a small town called Soham.
I aim to apply my thesis and introduce my prototypes to this community as a demonstration of how the means of sustaining lifestyle from one context is brought to the context of this community’s lifestyle to help them reach their goal of sustainability.

We as yet have not really felt a shortage of resources such as food, water, electricity and data. The way we live leads us to not directly feel yet the impact that this behaviour has over our lifestyle.

The Collecting stage is where I am developing the means of creating a database in which resource information can be stored in order to give credit to the use of physical resources within the neighbourhood tribe lifestyle.

Purpose of researching collecting methods
The purpose of conducting research into methods of collecting resources is to identify the means in which resources used can be gathered and give credit to the means of sustaining resources.
Thesis WW2 Rationing Research Inspiration of making resource
In my thesis I delved into how rationing books were used to give a value and credit system towards the resources being used. By doing this the resources usage could materialise in a context in which the users could more efficiently use them and sustain them for tasks essential to their lifestyle.
Method of Gathering resource for Database
A food resource database can be made using quality check equipment that will create a reading of the food in regards to natural fruits and vegetable and define what food grown is available. This method is best used as an in the moment database response.
The water resource database for a community can be made using a weight sensor that updates as water is used and collected. Allowing people to ration water use.
Electricity can be monitored using sensors that track energy transferred through plug sockets and powering appliances.
Data (resource for internet)
Using net limiter, I am putting together a database for data used for the accessing of the Internet, social applications and media such as YouTube to allow people to understand the usage of data.
Node Red personal Database
Node red in this flow uses a node called mongodb, which is a node, which transfer statistical onto an online database where the information can be accessed. This node is typically used for economical statistics and interactive designs in storing tweets related to specific topics.
In my research into means of creating a database to give credit to resources, I found that the most ideal methods is the use of electricity which when applied to a node red software may be possible to store energy use in the form of statistics. Another method that showed promise is the use of a moisture sensor that can be used to monitor the state of food, creating a credit based system to monitor food sustainability.

In response to how resources can be collected a plan needs to be put into place as to what context the resources will be collected under and for what purpose will collecting the resource allow a means of sustaining resources.

In order to create a database I am planning the method that will be used based on research conducted and the context of what the resources within the database is being used for.

Using a smart plug Plan on building a database of the energy used for specific devices that my cased studies demonstrated to have the most energy use.

I plan to use a soil moisture sensor, in order to added credit to the health of natural plants within the environment and in doing so allow users within a community to sustain the health of the plants in which food can be grown.
According to my plan the use of a edimax plug may be the ideal method for monitoring the use of electricity and using that information to construct database.
The next stage of my development would be to apply this plan in experimentation to see if the technology can indeed monitor these resources and identify if that information can be used to put together a database that gives credit to resource usage.

Following my theory seen in my thesis, I am creating a database for the various basic resources ranging from food, electricity and data.
By doing this I can give value to the resources and give context to when and how these resources show be managed. As mentioned by the tales, people are more likely to take action towards sustainability when they understand how much resources are available.

Soil moisture provides an effective means of monitoring the health and therefore the quality of plants. By monitoring the health of the quality of the plants the health of the fruit can be monitored as well.

The use of a smart plug and node red provides a means of collecting the resource associated electricity use, revealing potential in the context of what electricity is used for.
Reflecting upon the experiments I have conducted to make a database, the use of the edimax plug has the most ranged uses due to the variety of tools which we use electricity in our lifestyle.

The purpose of adapting experimentation into a prototype tool is to use it as a tool in which the variety of resources and context of use can be required. Once a Database was created that could give credit to the resources being used within the tribe, a method for how to use the resource database and how the users would interact with the resource needs to be developed. The responsive prototype reacts to the usage of data as the resource that allows us to access and interact with the cyberspace that is integrated into our social lives. These interactions take the form of social media, streamed entertainment and access knowledge. The prototype uses a router and reacts to how the resource is used and provides suggestions to best use it.
